ESL & ePaper Signage
Techcon Solution, the authorised reseller of Pricer in Hong Kong, supplies and installs Pricer electronic shelf labels (ESL) and ePaper signage for shops. The labels show prices sent from a central system instead of paper tags, and ePaper signs show promotions on low-power reflective screens. We connect both to your POS, ERP or price files and support them locally.

What are Pricer electronic shelf labels?
Electronic shelf labels replace paper price tags with small battery-powered e-paper displays on the shelf edge. Prices and product details are sent from a central system, so a price change reaches every shelf without anyone printing or swapping tags.
Pricer’s system communicates by optical wireless in the near-infrared spectrum, so it does not compete with Wi-Fi or 4G. Pricer states it handles up to 35,000 price updates per hour and scales from 1 to 1,000+ stores. Labels can flash an LED to point staff to a shelf for replenishment or Click & Collect picking.
See the ESL product page for the SmartTAG Color and HangTAG ranges.
What is ePaper signage used for?
ePaper signs use reflective display technology, so they need no backlight and stay readable in bright light. They draw power mainly when the content changes, which suits promotions, menus, room signs and notices that stay on screen for long periods.
Content is updated remotely through a cloud platform or API. Current models come in 13.3, 28.5 and 31.5 inch sizes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. See the ePaper signage page for specifications.
How does Techcon Solution deliver an ESL or signage project?
We supply the Pricer labels and ePaper displays, install them in your store and connect them to the system that holds your prices, whether that is a POS, an ERP or a price file. The integration is part of our software development work. After go-live, support comes from our team in Hong Kong. Read how we did this for DeliFans in our case study.

Guides and case studies
- How Does an ESL Rollout Work, From Site Survey to Go-Live?An electronic shelf label rollout runs in stages. A site survey maps the shelves and your price data, the labels are linked to your POS, ERP or price file, and a pilot area proves the flow. The rest of the store follows, staff are trained, and support continues locally after go-live.
- How Can Restaurants and Cafés Update Menus and Control Portions?Restaurants and cafés can update menus centrally on ePaper signs instead of reprinting boards, weigh portions on kitchen scales so each dish uses the same amount, and print prep and packaging labels from a barcode printer instead of writing them by hand. Local support keeps the kit running during service.
- What Technology Do Retail Stores Need to Keep Prices and Stock Right? Most retail stores need four things working together. Electronic shelf labels keep shelf prices in step with the till, ePaper signs carry promotions, barcode scanners and scales handle checkout and fresh goods, and handheld computers support stock checks. All of them should take their data from your POS or ERP.
- How DeliFans Uses Pricer ESL and Local Hong Kong Support to Run Real-Time RetailA case study on how DeliFans deployed Pricer electronic shelf labels with Techcon's local support to keep shelf pricing in sync in real time.
- E-Ink Signage: Low Power, Blue-Light-Free, Sunlight-Readable for Always-On VisibilityHow reflective e-paper signage delivers ultra-low power consumption, blue-light-free comfort, and sunlight readability for retail, property, and campus use cases.
- How Do You Connect ESL, Scanners and Printers to Your POS or ERP?You connect them through an integration layer. Prices flow from your POS, ERP or a price file to the electronic shelf labels and ePaper signs; handheld apps send scans back to your system; and label printers pull their data from the same records. Each link runs automatically, so nobody re-keys prices, counts or labels.
- How Can Clinics, Schools and Campuses Keep Track of Equipment?Tag each item with a barcode or RFID label, record every loan, transfer and service in one asset register, and check stock with a handheld instead of paper. A system such as ZOVYX adds reminders for calibration and warranties, while ePaper signs keep notices and directions current without reprinting.

Can the labels take prices from our POS or ERP?
Yes. Pricer labels integrate with retail systems through APIs, and Techcon Solution builds the link to your POS, ERP or price files as part of our software development work.
What is the difference between ESL and ePaper signage?
ESLs are small labels on the shelf edge that show the price of a single product. ePaper signs are larger displays, from 13.3 to 31.5 inches, for promotions, menus and notices.
Does ePaper signage need a constant power supply?
ePaper has no backlight and uses power mainly when the content changes, unlike an LCD or LED screen, which draws power continuously.
Can the labels help staff restock shelves or pick online orders?
Yes. Pricer labels can flash an LED to show staff which shelf to restock or which item to pick for a Click & Collect order.
